Jacinta Noonan

botiI’ve felt big forever; understandable really, as I was the second tallest in the class. You would always find me sitting in the back row because I felt too conspicuous otherwise. The hormones started pumping early, and those infamous female curves appeared out of nowhere. My teenage years were focussed on two things: boys and how fat I was. Having survived all that, I reached maturity in one piece with those curves still curving.

The 20’s were about self-consciousness, baggy jackets and endless discussions about how fat I was. By the time the 30’s hit my phantom weight problem had started to become real. The scales had started their insidious upwards creep and disliking my body had become a daily habit, as had the failed diets, the arguments with food, the struggles, the denials, the disappointments. The main topic of conversation with the ‘girls’ (generally over a glass of red and nibblies) was about how fat we all were. The 40’s were just on the horizon, the body had turned to blancmange and I was fed up with the boring monotony of my conversations. It was time for action.

Fortunately I had put my life to good use, despite the weight distractions, and I had been awarded a degree in psychology, became a qualified Life Coach and was a NLP Master Practitioner. It was time to put my money where my mouth was and apply my coaching skills on myself and so began a fascinating and fun journey of discovery. The outcomes are that I now love my body, I respect it and feed it well, I show off my curves and celebrate my butt. I feel confident, capable and most of all very very happy. Because I am happy, I have dared to stretch my comfort zone and can honestly say I am now living my dream life.

The moral of the story is this: it doesn’t matter one iota whether you are 15, 30, 35 or 40 or what the scales may tell you.

How you feel about yourself and your body begins with your mind.

Starting with your mind is the most effective way to ‘diet’. The ‘big on the inside’ project is the culmination of all I field-tested and found to be most effective. It is my pleasure to share all of this with you to support you in your journey to a better relationship with yourself, your body, food and life!

Christine McKenzie

botiWho am I?
My name is Christine McKenzie. I am a Canadian and have been living in Holland since 2006.

I have been active in fitness and competitive sports from a young age.  I participated with an all star field hockey team, coached and competed in figure skating and recently competed in the sliding sport of skeleton.  With this I also regularly enjoy rock climbing, running, cross country skiing, swimming and soccer.
This interest in sports, the demanding level of fitness as an athlete and my positive spirit lead me to pursue my own business as a personal trainer.  My education as a personal trainer includes CanFit Pro; a nationally recognized organization dedicated to educating fitness professionals.  In addition, I am certified as a Medical Exercise Specialist with the American Academy of Health and Fitness Rehab Professionals training in injuries, post surgery and neuromuscular diseases.  As well as The Heart and Stroke Foundation First Aid and CPR certification.  Each year I educate myself with these organizations as well as with online studies from Human Kinetics, lectures and conferences all over the world.
My training embraces core strength and stability, athletic development, rehabilitation and flexibility.  I believe it is important to live a balanced lifestyle spiritually, intellectually and physically.
